Electric revolution in logistics: eActros 600 in action at HOPI Logistics

How combining electromobility with a RoadTrain configuration opens the door to a sustainable transport future on the Jažlovice–Prostějov route.

Electromobility is reaching heavy goods transport, and HOPI Logistics is deploying the Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 in a RoadTrain configuration on the Jažlovice–Prostějov route. With a range of over 500 km on a single charge, the electric tractor is no longer limited to short urban runs — it can handle medium and longer regional routes while cutting noise and eliminating local emissions. In RoadTrain mode the set carries up to 102 pallets and can run two round trips a day on the route — up to 408 pallets daily — saving roughly 7.09 kg CO₂ per pallet versus conventional diesel. HOPI uses a transparent e-surcharge charged only when goods actually travel by e-truck: standard rates stay the same and there are no fixed fees when the e-truck is not used. While operating costs (fuel, tolls) drop, the purchase price of an electric tractor is about 2.5× a diesel equivalent, so total cost is still higher — but customers gain a concrete, measurable contribution to emission reduction they can report in their own CSR.
